Tom Morris

Partner
Tom Morris focuses his practice primarily on high-level felonies, with an emphasis on those which will result in jury trials. He also heads our juvenile delinquency department, representing juveniles charged with all offenses from murder to simple assault.

Heather Fox

Partner
Heather Fox handles all levels of criminal cases at the district and superior court level. She heads our parent-representation department in DSS court. She also leads our traffic ticket program, and has helped countless individuals keep their driver’s license.

Laura Benitez
Paralegal

A Statesville native, Laura brings a grounded, community-focused perspective to the firm. Outside the office, she’s an avid reader and outdoors lover who enjoys traveling and spending time with family, close friends, and her two dogs, Lassy and Cooper.

She joins the team with experience in eminent domain and civil litigation, along with a strong passion for criminal justice and helping clients navigate a system that doesn’t always play fair. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a minor in American Studies from UNC Charlotte in 2025, following her Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice from Mitchell Community College in 2023.

Focused, organized, and unafraid of tough cases, she fits seamlessly into the MFers at Law ethos—relentless advocacy paired with real compassion for the people we serve.

Kim Fox
Legal Assistant

Kim is our front-line contact at Morris & Fox. Whether it be someone new looking to consult with our attorneys, or a current client, she is always ready to answer any questions people have for her.

An avid dog lover, Kim lives in Statesville with her husband Craig and their three Boxers, Chloe, Gus, and Maverick.

Morale Officers

Our three morale officers, Maggie, Chloe, and Mila, are always at the office ready to greet visitors and hang out with clients going through a tough time. While our team fights for our clients in the courtroom, our morale officers make sure our clients get to recharge before the fight.
